Heritage Resorts Team Up for World Clean Up Day

As part of the #WorldCleanupDay celebrated every year on September 19, Heritage Resorts, organized on Friday, September 18, a half-day cleanup on the Heritage Bel Ombre Domain, around its hotels and in the village.

The recent events that shook the world through the pandemic #Covid 19 and more recently our Mauritian #island and its lagoon, have clearly shown us that we must mobilize more for a #green #planet and for more respect for our mother nature.

At Heritage Resorts, we have always been committed to making every effort to achieve sustainable and responsible development in a transparent and sincere manner. This goes beyond offering guests a green and responsible tourism experience in a setting and environment where the protected flora and fauna remains exceptional.

Above all, it is about collective and individual responsibility to do everything possible today to ensure a better tomorrow for future generations. It is quite naturally, that within the framework of the ‘World Cleanup Day”, the group wished once again to honour its commitment to sustainable development through a concrete action which will have mobilised nearly a hundred collaborators and friends partners.

For Alexandre Piat, Sustainable Development Manager at Heritage Resorts: ”This operation was successful as we collected nearly 10 tons of waste. However, even though we are happy to have worked for a good cause, we realize that the pollution of our environment remains significant, and that we still have a long way to go to educate and encourage the population towards greater responsibility…”.

At Heritage Resorts, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact. Our actions and values in support of sustainability are guided by a clear objective: “#Strive to protect our environment. ”To achieve this goal, we strongly believe in working with strong partners and local stakeholders. In addition, we promote the education of our population, our customers and all the inhabitants of the region. Everyone has a role to play. For Jacques Charles, COO of Heritage Resorts: “It also shows that when energies are united and the same values are shared, it is possible to make the world a better place. I would like to congratulate all our colleagues for their solidarity, energy and enthusiasm, which will have contributed greatly to the success of this clean-up operation. I would also like to thank our partners from the District Council and the Village of Bel Ombre, our sister companies #Agria and #IslandLiving, as well as the #Rogers Group for their support. My wish is that we can continue this commitment not only within our establishments but also at home and wherever we are called to be”.

As a reminder, Heritage Resorts launched its Environmental Charter in 2019. This charter emphasizes the individual responsibility of each person in the fight to preserve resources. From now on, each employee must commit to respecting this charter. In addition, two mandatory clauses were recently added to the new job descriptions: “Participate in the environmental and sustainable responsibility established by the hotel” and “Ensure energy savings (electricity, gas, water)”. As soon as they arrive, each new employee is given a presentation on the Group’s environmental initiatives. Training and awareness sessions on environmental issues and sustainable development are also organized every year. The Bis Lamer, a mobile training center, creates awareness among employees and local residents of the impact of Man on the marine ecosystem. Finally, management organizes periodic meetings with staff to keep them informed of environmental initiatives.
